Nothing much to see here… just another Lady Skater dress! I did not make any changes to my pattern since the previous few (here, here, and here). I made this one from a purple striped polyester/rayon/lycra jersey knit from Fabric Mart (and it happens to be on sale as I write this, $4/yard!)
I tried to pattern match the stripes, and it worked well on the skirt, but the bodice didn’t match up at all. I thought that if I matched from the shoulder seams, it would work. No such luck. I’m clearly not a perfectionist, though, so I’m not worried about it!
Jersey knits can be pretty finicky, and this one is light weight – so it definitely curled a bit and took a little longer to sew up. It was worth it, though, as I love the colors, and it will be great in the warmer months (and good for layering, too).
I’ve ordered the same fabric in two other colorways:
You can scope out my fabric stash (at least the ones I remember to pin!) on my Pinterest Fabric board: https://www.pinterest.com/phlyersphan/fabric/
I made another Lady Skater this weekend as well – a gray ponte knit one. I definitely prefer working with ponte. It doesn’t curl and is much faster to sew up. Hopefully I can get some photos of that one soon, now that it has stopped raining. I also need to get cracking on the Misty Jeans sewalong!
So much to sew, so little time…
